Holi is amongst the most awaited festivals of our country that not only requires long preparations but also leaves long lasting impact on a person’s face and body afterwards – all thanks to colours.
The traditional custom of ‘Holika Dahan’ initiates the fun filled environment of colours that continues till next day. People prepare gujiyas, papads, etc and offer them to everybody who comes to their doorstep to wish them Happy Holi. Those moments when people drag their family and friends and smear colours over them, fills the ambiance with joyful noise.
Preparations related to the selection of old and faded clothes often puzzle people before playing Holi. Then dressing in those clothes and greasing your body with oil and creams gives a feeling of both excitement and fear. And the moment, anybody enters your house, people welcomes them with pichkaris, water balloons and pakke colours.
People enjoy dancing on iconic Holi (with colors smitten all over the body) songs like “Rang barse”, “Holi khele” and many more while eating special Holi delicacies.
After all the mess that one does to his/her body and house, what exactly irritates one the most, is getting rid of the colours from your face and get back to the glow and clean the house, of course. But for weeks, these colours stays with you making you feel that you have enjoyed your best.
So, here's wishing all of you a happy and safe Holi.
Bura na maano Holi hai!
