Mumbai: The much awaited musical film 'Aashiqui 2' is all set to hit the big screens on April 26 this year. The film is being produced by Vishesh Films and T-Series together. About 23 years earlier, these production houses had released a film named 'Aashiqui' that was highly loved and appreciated by the viewers.
Aditya Roy Kapur and Shakti Kapoor's daughter Shraddha Kapoor have replaced Rahul Roy and Anu Agarwal for the lead roles of the Mohit Suri's film. The 1990 release had changed the complete career of both the actors.
"The franchise will continue to spread its magic over the audiences. It is completely a different project that is surely going to mesmerize you all. We are coming up with a brand new story which is just coming under the franchise name," said Mahesh Bhatt, Producer of the film.
Turning down the buzz that 'Aashiqui 2' is the sequel of 'Aashiqui', director Mohit Suri said, "It is a brand new love story. The only similarity between these films is their amazing music. The film consists about seven to eight songs. It's a musical."
Mukesh Bhatt says, "This is a superb love story that will showcase the mature relations between the lead characters. All three laed actors will be portraying very challenging roles. We have not created a film that is all about just looking good, singing and dancing. This is a performance oriented film that is going to win your hearts. Shraddha, Aditya and Shaad will win everyone's heats just like Anu, Rahul and Deepak Taijori did in 1990 with 'Aashiqui'."
We are expecting a grand opening of the film because of its brand name as its first song 'Tum Hi Ho' has already gone viral on YouTube. It had collected more than 10 lakh views in first 10 days from its release.
Producer Bhushan Kumar from T-Series said, "We have already pictured many songs. And we are looking forward that the audiences are going to love all of them. Many people have requested us to bring back at least one song from the previous one. We can't say anything about the film right now but we can guarantee one thing that the music is going to mesmerize all the listeners."
