Akshay Kumar's Rs 2000 Cr league, not easy to surpass

Mumbai: Akshay Kumar, the most versatile Bollywood actor has formed the '2000 Crore' league; emerging as the top earner in Hindi film industry. Recently, Akki's Special 26, was declared a hit at the box office.

Forbes India has ranked Akshay fourth in the list of top celebs, based on their income and popularity in 2011-2012.

During the weekend, fans of Akki created a hash tag (#Akshay2000crore), which was trending worldwide till Monday. Seeing the love of the people, Akshay tweeted, "Honestly blessed to have you all Akkians in my life. Special thanks to my fan clubs who support me so much selflessly time & again. Thank you for the #Akshay2000crore tag only possible coz of you all."

This news comes as an additional benefit for the action king, who in 2012 became the first Bollywood star to have crossed the Rs 400 crore business mark in a single year. He had two 'Rs 100 crore plus hits' in 2012, Housefull 2 and Rowdy Rathore, which he had then topped up with the success of his two other ventures, Oh My God! and Khiladi 786.

In fact, this year too, Akshay has the highest money riding on him with films like Boss, Once Upon A Time in Mumbaai 2, Thuppaki remake and Ramesh Taurani's untitled next among others.

Now here's an act that's not going to be easy to follow. So, it would be interesting to see, which Khan would break the record of Rs 2,000 crore collection set by Akshay Kumar.
