Mumbai: Bollywood actor Anushka Sharma continue to woo fans with her strong acting skills and doesn't want to be just a showpiece and is keen on doing substance filled roles.
Getting rave appreciations for her portrayal of BBC journalist role in Yash Chopra's last directorial venture,'Jab Tak Hai Jaan', actor look forward to role of substances. The Shahrukh Khan and Katrina Kaif starrer has received record opening on Diwali release.
In her recent interview, she stated, "For me the other important thing is my role. It should be something that should have some weight in the movie and it has to do something for me. I don't want to become a showpiece. There is no satisfaction for me in that."
The actor made promising debut against Bollywood Baadshah Shahrukh Khan in 'Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi' went on to receive accolades for her performances in movies like Badmaash Company, Band Baaja Baraat, Ladies vs Ricky Bahl and Patiala House.
Actor will be seen appearing in number of other interesting projects including Vishal Bharadwaj's 'Matru Ki Bijlee Ka Mandola', Rajkumar Hirani's 'Peekay' and Anurag Kashyap's 'Bombay Velvet' opposite Ranbir Kapoor.
Bollywood charisma has not made any impact and she is strongly holding her foot firmly on the ground despite all recent successes. In her recent candid statement, she asserted that acting is not the only thing she wants to do in her life and stardom is just fleeting phase.
Looking forward to happy settled married life later, she said, "I think 10-15 years down the line I would not want to remain an actress. Probably I will be married and driving my kids to school. Appreciation is obviously nice. Our profession is such that it puts us in a trance while working and then we don't realize what all we can do."
A confident Anushka is not swayed by Bollywood says,"Stardom is nice but because I am an outsider in the industry, I don't want to get sucked into this too much. I have this sense of practicality that this is temporary."
Admitting that it is simply a phase she stated,"I think right now I am getting many offers because my films have done well. But it's not going to be an ongoing process. I don't want to get delusional about where I am. I keep a constant check by saying that this isn't my entire life."
For the movies’ selection, she relies on her brother. Sharing her experience so far,"I feel sometimes people praise you on face. But I listen to my parents and my brother. Other than them I don't listen to anybody. I consult my brother when it comes to films. I rely on his thumbs up to my scripts. Mostly, we are on the same page which is what I like."
She gives priority to scripts and follows her intuitions. She said,"First and foremost it is the director after that the script. It has to be a film I should connect with. If I get restless while reading the script I know I am not going to enjoy doing it. When I read scripts of films from beginning to end and if engrossed into it means I will do it. I know I would enjoy doing the film."
