Mumbai: After his album ‘Vande Mataram’ grand success fifteen years back, AR Rahman is thinking to bring yet another brand new album for his fans. Back in 1997 when Rahman came up with ‘Vande Mataram’, it was one soulful package which Rahman had garnished it with his magical touch he has been known for over the years.
Vande Mataram was a 1997 studio album by Rahman and is still the largest selling Indian non-film album to date. It released on December 9, 1997 by Columbia Records, a music label under Sony Music.
The album was released on the Golden Jubilee anniversary of India’s independence and has been instrumental in instilling a sense of patriotic pride and national unity amongst the people of India.
Ever since release, both the album and its title song “Maa Tujhe Salaam” have had a profoundly positive and unifying impact on the nationalistic and patriotic mood of the country.
And now, after 15 long years, the drought seems to be finally getting over.
Rahman has written on his Facebook page that it has been 15 long years since he last made an album. But due to his inclination and dedication towards film music he could not do any other album and his life has been unpredictable.
He stated, “It has always been challenging and interesting.”
The Oscar award winner musician, singer, music director and actor Rahman has got special place in the hearts of Indians and fans around the world.
Despite Rahman giving hits including Roja, Dil Se, Taal, Rang De Basanti, Guru and recently Rockstar, her failed to deliver the same essence in the Commonwealth Games’ theme song for which he had to face criticism too. But apart from that, Rahman has been a class act in what he has done.
