Will not retire from ODIs: Sachin Tendulkar

New Delhi: The buzz that Sachin Tendulkar will soon retire from One-day Internationals has been quashed by none other than the little master himself as he told that he has no plans to retire from the shorter format of the game and he has opted out of the Sri Lanka series as he wanted to spend some time with his family.

Sachin said he would continue playing as long as he enjoyed the sport. "It's not what xyz thinks. As long as I am enjoying and I feel like being part of it (ODIS) I'll continue. I felt I shouldn't be part of T20 squad in 2007 and I have been asked but I feel I should not be part of the T20 squad because the team did well and when I get that feeling in one day cricket I would take that decision," Sachin told.

On missing the Sri Lanka tour beginning later in the month, Sachin said: "I just want to spend time with my family so I spoke to BCCI and requested them. To be able to spend time with children is also important because once we come back they will get busy with their schools. The time spent with them will keep me going for the next 10 months".

The batting maestro has been involved in only two one-day series since India's World Cup triumph in 2011. Former greats Imran Khan and Kapil Dev had earlier said that Sachin should have quit the game after the World Cup high. The 39-year-old, however, said he did not think of calling it a day after India's historic feat. "I never thought about taking all those decisions so again coming back to the same thing that when I feel like taking that decision I will take it. I don't want rest of the guys take that decision for me and as long as I am enjoying it makes sense to carry on".
