Mumbai: Bollywood’s mighty Salman Khan on Saturday took to twitter to advice filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt not to make an apology.

Salman’s tweet, "Bhatt saab, no need for apology, Alia’s upbringing is great. I was proud to share the stage with her. She earns her living with hardwork and dignity," came after when Mahesh Bhatt apologized for not being able to stop his daughter Alia Bhatt for performing at ‘Saifai Mahotsav’ organized by Samajwadi Party.

Alia Bhatt has been under fire after performing at Saifai event, on which a day after Mahesh made an apology, saying he had ‘failed as a father’.

However, Bollywood hunk Salman Khan, who was also amongst the performers, says the filmmaker needn’t be apologetic about his daughter’s "upbringing".

Alia’s sister actor-turned-filmmaker Pooja Bhatt, also took to her father’s defense and said that he had "not failed as a father".

Pooja also tweeted on Saturday saying "Mahesh Bhatt, you have not failed as a father. Alia needs representation that has a far more sensitized and astute world view. End of story."

Several Bollywood stars were flown in a chartered plane to perform at the event and have been criticized after performing.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav has also been criticized for spending money on the actors while this could have been used for the relief and rehabilitation of the Muzaffarnagar riot victims.

The Mahotsav was organized in the ancestral village of Samajwadi Party Supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav.

The other celebrities who performed in the festival included Madhuri Dixit, Ranveer Singh, Mallika Sherawat, Varun Dhawan, Sidharth Malhotra, Remo, Sajid Wajid and Hard Kaur.
