BJP may suspend Shatrughan Sinha

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party top leaders will meet in a meeting to have a talk on the topic of some major changes in the party. The party members decided to meet after one day from the suspension of Rajya Sabha member Ram Jethmalani for his verbal opposition against the party President Nitin Gadkari. Jethmalani has been in controversies for his praiseful comments over the appointment Ranjit Sinha as the new CBI chief.

The meeting of the party's Parliamentary Board is to take place at 4.30 pm today. In the meeting, BJP leaders are expected to take some action against party members like Yashvant Sinha and Shatrughan Sinha, who have been protesting the continuance of Gadkari as the party president. Shatrughan Sinha was also the supporter of Jethmalani on the CBI chief issue.

According to the sources, Jethmalani and Shatrughan SInha will be suspended but Yashwant Sinha might be given a chance to apologise and withdraw his statement.

Party spokesperson Shahnawaz Hussain confirmed the news and said, "Jethmalani has been terminated as a party member. Gadkari has suspended him with immediate effect."

The leading lawyer Jethmalani came to Delhi from Mumbai today and said, "No-one in BJP has the courage to take action against the wrong man Gadkari."

Earlier, Jethmalani has been demanding Gadkari's resignation over allegations of financial malpractice involving his Purti Group. Later, he wrote a letter to Congress party chief last week, stating BJP was against the appointment of the new CBI director. The letter was articulated by two of the senior most party members Sushma Swaraj and Arun Jaitley.
