New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) names the Lok Sabha Polls 2014 candidates for Delhi assembly, bringing in few fresh faces. Bhojpuri singer, actor Manoj Tewari, Dalit leader Udit Raj and Mahesh Giri have been delivered the party tickets.
Manoj Tiwari will contest from North East Delhi, while Mahesh Giri will fight from East Delhi. Girri will contest against Former Chief Minister Sheila Dixit's Son Sandeep and AAP leader Raj Mohan.
After securing the BJP's ticket Maheish Girri said, "The people of East Delhi have been neglected for long. This area has immense potential. However, very little has been done to take the area to the heights it deserves. I am grateful that the party leaders think I am worthy of this responsibility, and I will try my best to fulfil all the promises and expectations that the party and the people have from me."
From New Delhi, party spokesperson Meenakshi Lekhi will be the candidate while the reserved North West Delhi seat goes to Dalit leader Udit Raj.
Former Delhi chief minister Sahib Singh Verma's son and MLA Parvesh Verma will contest from West Delhi, while the South Delhi seat goes to state leader Ramesh Bhiduri.
More than 20 names were discussed for the seven constituencies in Delhi. The BJP at present does not have have a single Lok Sabha member from Delhi.
