Celebrating Father's Day!

He is our caretaker, we owe him our existence and identification, he is the one who loves us without any selfish motives and yes he deserves to be celebrated for his all time support and guidance. Father’s day is celebrated to show respect for fathers who is a person who often leads the and takes care of family members. He is the one who emerges as a personality to get inspired from.

The exact day for celebrating father’s day varies across the globe. Kids plan various programs to make their fathers feel special. India observes this day on the third Sunday of June. This year, it is being celebrated on June 17.

Father’s day was first of all celebrated in Spokane, Washington on June 19, 1910. Sonora Smart Dodd was the first to pay homage to her father in the form of father’s day, which she celebrated on her dad’s birthday. However, her idea didn’t get much of response.

After much of debates and discussions, President Lyndon B Johnson in 1966 officially announced the third Sunday of June as Father’s day. As they say, father is a girl’s first love and a boy’s first hero, he deserved to be celebrated and thanked for his care, affection and warmth.

However, in India the concept of Father’s day celebration is comparatively new and it has been less than a decade since the day gained popularity. It is a way to show thankfulness to fathers or people who are considered father figures.
