China: Bus accident leaves 17 dead, several others injured

Beijing: On early Wednesday, 17 people died when the bus in which they were travelling plunged into a ravine here. The accident took place at around 2 am on an expressway in Xiapu county of eastern Fujian province. The vehicle was carrying 45 people.

The bus overturned and fell into a 50-meter ravine, said Yang Peiqin, secretary of the Xiapu county committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC).

The injured were rushed to hospital, conditions of which are reported critical, quoted Yang.
