New Delhi: After a twenty-four hour deadline by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), crisis-hit Kingfisher Airlines will submit revised flights schedule on Wednesday by 12 pm.
At least 30 flights of Kingfisher Airlines were cancelled on Tuesday after which the top brass including CEO Sanjay Aggarwal of the cash-strapped carrier appeared before the aviation regulator DGCA to explain reasons for disruptions in schedules.
Kingfisher was given deadline of 24 hours and was asked to come up with realistic flight schedule by DGCA.
"The airlines will have to file a new schedule instead of a truncated one in the next 24 hours," said DGCA chief EK Bharat Bhushan.
The income authorities which have frozen its bank accounts, was operating only 28 of its 64 fights.
"To be on the safer side, we have decided to go for safety surveillance of all of their operating aircraft," said Bhushan.
Bhushan denied to speak about any punitive action and said that they would like to see the carrier back on its feet.
"Let us not talk of punitive action at the moment. We are more interested to see the airline back on its feet. Our priority is not to punish ... because of the immediate difficulties the travelling public will have to face," he said.
Under Rule 140 (A) of the Aircraft Rules, airlines required consent of DGCA to curtail their plane schedules. Any violation can amount to cancellation of the plane permit of an airline, as an extreme measure. As per the reports, the aviation regulator also wanted to know the reason behind the delay in the payment of salaries.
Reports also revealed that the State Bank of India (SBI) has decided to provide INR 1,650 crore as a relief package to crisis-hit Kingfisher.
