Delhi Gangrape: Never tolerate violence against women, says Ban Ki-Moon

The young paramedical student was gang-raped and brutally tortured in a moving bus on December 16. The rape survivor passed away on December 29 in a Singapore hospital.
Condemning this monstrous attack on the girl Ban asked government of India to implement reforms to deter such crimes. He also encouraged the Indian government to strengthen critical services for rape survivors and said that the UN women and other agencies of the United Nations are ready to support such reform efforts with technical expertise and other support as required.
"Violence against women must never be accepted, never excused, never tolerated. Every girl and woman has the right to be respected, valued and protected," he added.
The rape survivor was cremated on Sunday in New Delhi amid tight security. Media was not allowed in the crematorium.
