Delhi Police constable Manish Hooda found dead inside water tank

New Delhi: A Delhi police constable was found dead on Thursday in a water tank of a police training school in south Delhi's Malviya Nagar area, police said.

The body of 22-year-old Manish Hooda was recovered from the tank around 10 a.m. on Thursday.

"Last night Hooda was seen alive by his colleagues. The tank in which his body was found has 1,000 litre storage capacity and is situated on the roof of the barrack where he lived with other colleagues," said a police official.

According to police, prima facie it seems that the victim accidentally fell inside the tank and could not come out as no bruises were found on his body. Police are investigating the matter.

Hooda's body has been sent to All India Institute of Medical Sciences for autopsy to find out the exact reason behind his death, police said .

Hooda had joined Delhi Police in 2010 and had been deputed to its 7th Battalion.

His father Krishan Kumar is a head constable posted at the Preet Vihar police station in east Delhi.
