Federer eyes Olympic gold

London: Roger Federer will be chasing a dream when he plays for the second time this year at the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, where he was crowned champion few days back. The world No. 1 Federer has almost all the tennis honors except the Olympic gold.

With Olympic inaugural ceremony on July 28, the very next day will mark the start of the tennis event with Novak Djokovic and Roger Federer as the favorite to win the gold. Gold medalist from the Beijing Olympics Rafael Nadal has already pulled out of the event, nursing a knee injury. Federer who shattered dreams of many when he became the Wimbledon Champion after defeating Britain's Andy Murray expresses that the next dream that he has set his eyes on is the Olympic Gold. "Now Olympic gold is a dream," said Federer in the post match interview after the championship match.

Although Federer has a gold from the Beijing Olympics where he managed it after winning the double's event with partner Stanislas Wawrinka, he still dreams of a gold in the singles event. "I am now the Wimbledon champion, and that gives me even more confidence coming to the Olympics," Federer said.

Anday Murray who considers Olympics as the fifth grand slam said that "I remember Novak Djokovic winning bronze in Beijing and crying on the podium because it meant so much to him, and that's how us tennis players feel when we're representing our nations."

The heat will be at the center court where the best in tennis, Federer, Murray and Djokovic will again be face to face for place in history.
