Film Fraternity to organise an event "Baapu" on Gandhi Jayanti

Mumbai: Film Fraternity of India has decided to organize a festival of films and art called 'BAAPU' on Mahatma Gandhi's 143 birth anniversary i.e. Ghandhi Jayanti.

The event will be held between October 2 to 5, 2012 and will showcase the feature films on the father of nation, such as Gandhi, The Making of The Mahatma, Gandhi My Father, Maine Gandhi Ko Nahin Mara, Lage Raho Munna Bhai, etc. Many documentaries including Lines Of Mahatma, Gandhi - An Emerging Reality, Gandhiji Through The Eyes Of The Cartoonist, Gandhi, Nehru and Modern Art, Gandhiji's Letter To Hitler and Places Where Gandhiji Lived.

Many expert film personalities like Shyam Benagal, Anupam Kher, Feroz Abbas Khan, Rohini Hattangady, Darshan Jariwala and Arun Khopkar will attend the screenings and interact with the audience, FDI said.

The event will also include live Baapu Bhajans, slide show of Gandhi paintings by noted painter Atul Dodiya, and exhibition of Gandhi artifacts by Mani Bhavan and release of collectors' edition DVD.

"The event invites all Mumbaikars to the event for refreshing the values of Gandhian philosophy and the social relevance of non-violence, universal peace and love in the present times," said V.S. Kundu, director general of the Films Division of India.

Event "Baapu" will be inaugurated by Shyam Benegal on October 2, 2012 at RR Theatre in the Films division building in South Mumbai.
