New Delhi: The Food Corporation of India (FCI) invites application for Assistant Grade III recruitment 2013. The total number of vacancies is 6545 across five zones.

The notification for FCI recruitment was issued on August 25, 2012 through advertisement FNo1/19/2012 P&PII in major national dailies.

Food Corporation of India (Bhartiya Khadya Nigam), has its headquarters at Chennai. Its main objectives are:
1. Supply of food grains across the country through Public Distribution System.
2. Implement price support operations to benefit farmers.
3. To ensure national food security.

FCI operates through five zonal and 26 regional offices. It purchases food grains from farmers on the rates fixed by the government. This is called MSP (Minimum support Price). The food stocks are transported across the country and are issued to the State Government nominees on fixed rates. FCI itself is not a decision making authority, it functions on the guidelines laid by the Ministry of Food and Ministry of Agriculture.
