As per the reports, Mazurier has now been taken for medical check-up and will be produced in Magistrate’s court later in the day.
Sources say that Pascal was arrested after France rejected to meddle in the case and said that the accused did not enjoy any diplomatic immunity and action can be taken as per law.
Reports reveal that a case under section 376 of IPC was registered against Pascal following a complaint from his Indian wife Suja Jones Mazurier.
According to the sources, Asha S Basu, counsel for Suja has written a letter on her behalf to Home Minister P Chidambaram and External Affairs Minister SM Krishna and urged to intervene in the case.
Suja Jones, an Indian citizen, tied the knot with Pascal Mazurier, deputy head of Chancery in the Consulate of France, Bangalore and together they have three children, a seven year-old son, the victim and a 20-month-old son.
