Gangs of Wasseypur II gets thumbs up from critics | Earns INR 3 crore on opening day

Mumbai: After the phenomenal success of part 1, Gangs of Wasseypur II released on an unusual note on Wednesday and within 50 days of its successor.

Vikram Malhotra, COO Viacom 18 Motion Pictures said, "GOW II is coming within 50 days of the first part. It is probably for the first time that one has seen one continuing ad campaign for two films. The Gangs double whammy has signaled the era of a new kind of commercial cinema in India."

The story begins from death of Sardar Khan (Manoj Bajpayee) with more of modern touches as his son Faizal Khan (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) takes the charge. "People should look forward to the film because it's more entertaining and a lot more fun. In fact, we hope to make Nawaz and Huma as the best Jodi (couple) in Bollywood this year."

Sneha Khanwalker's compositions in the film are impeccable rustic numbers with Taar Bijli and Kaala Re already on charts. The film made a whooping sum of INR 3 crore on its opening day. Trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, "#GOW2 picked up during the course of the day, yesterday. Wednesday *early estimates* indicate 3 cr. May even cross 3 cr."

The film also got rave reviews from prominent Bollywood faces. "Anurag's best film, and a matter of pride for India's film industry," said director Imtiaz Ali. Ranbir Kapoor thinks, "It is a must see for all. Engaging, enthralling; and entertainment right from India's heartland." While actors Anushka Sharma and Deepika Padukone, praised the performances, action and romance in the film.
