New Delhi: Today’s Google Doodle highlights works by eminent Indian Mathematician Srinivasa Ramanujan FRS, Mathematician and autodidact on his 125th birth anniversary.
Without any formal training in pure mathematics, he made exemplary contributions to mathematical analysis, infinite theory, mathematical analysis, infinite series and continued fractions.
He independently compiled 3900 results comprising identities and equations. Numbers of his findings are proven correct.
He was born on December 22, 1887 at Erode in Brahmin family. His parents were K. Srinivasa Iyengar and Komalatammal. He was called a natural genius by the English mathematicians GH Hardy and was compared with Euler and Gauss. He conducted his own research on Bernaulli numbers and Euler- Mascheroni constant.
He passed away due to illness, malnutrition, and possibly liver infection in 1920 at young age of 32.
