Mumbai: Bollywood's ace director Shekhar Kapur's ambitious project will have Hrithik Roshan in its main lead. According to reports, the actor has bagged the film.
The project will be produced by Yash Raj Films. The film will be made on a budget of $30 million. Hrithik is currently in Morocco for the 12th International Film Festival of Marrakech.
Shekhar had recently tweeted, "Paani' is a film, but much more. 'Paani' is a passion, but much more. 'Paani' is a mission."
He wrote the Paani script 15 years ago. Earlier Vivek Oberoi was supposed to be signed for the project but later on Ranbir Kapoor was approached and finally it went to Hrithik.
The movie is set on backdrop of future water crisis to be faced by the world and a possibility of war over water crisis. The film will be exploring this crisis through the story of poor man who visits the elite parts of city and meets a beautiful woman and falls in love.
The movie shoot will begin by mid of 2013. The shooting schedule will extensively cover different parts of India and overseas. Oscar-winning musician A R Rahman will compose the music.
