IIT JEE new entrance formula is stamped

New Delhi: After much hustle over the entrance process in the prestigious institutes of India, the IITs, things have been resolved and the affiliates of the meeting held here on June 27, 2012 came up with a decision that everybody agrees on. On Wednesday, all the directors of 15 IITs concurred over the same admission layout.

IIT-JEE Joint Admission Board (JAB) surfaced with this new formula for the entrance test to be held on next year. According to the new format, only top 20 percent candidates from every board will be eligible to appear in the advance examination that will be managed by IITs. Students coming through these hurdles will only then make it to the IIT merit lists.

IIT Faculty Federation member Professor SK Das informed, "We have worked out a compromise formula. We have proposed that main exam be entirely conducted and set by CBSE. Top 1.5 lakh students from this exam will then take advanced exam. It will be set for different date, not the same day."

The meeting which was to be chaired by Kapil Sibal, he, however skipped it in order to avoid any censure later on.
