New Delhi: The Pepsi Indian Premier League 2013 or Pepsi IPL 6 is the most awaited cricketing event where at the auction, nine team owners will battle it out to build their team. It will be broadcast live and exclusively on Sony Six.
The list of 101 players, to be auctioned on next Sunday, does not feature a single Pakistani player despite the resumption of bilateral cricket ties between the two neighbors in December last year.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) had hinted earlier last year that it would at least include them for the auction, but then decided not to. A top IPL official said, "It is for the franchises to decide their teams. The franchises invest a lot of money and they do not want to take a risk by including Pakistani players. The idea is to play it safe."
Ricky Ponting, who retired from international cricket recently and Clarke, who was with Pune Warriors last year, have topped the list which includes West Indies World Twenty20 captain Darren Sammy among others. Ponting has previously played for Kolkata Knight Riders.
The Pepsi IPL 2013 Player auction will be hosted by the vibrant Karishma Kotak (Bigg Boss 6 contestant) also present at the event would be the cricketing expert Harsha Bhogle sharing expertise on player and team strategies.
This will be the first season with PepsiCo as the title sponsor. The tournament will begin on April 3 and on May 26.
