IPL 6 2013 Match 5: Pollard turns savior for Mumbai Indians | MI beat CSK by 9 runs

Chennai: Mahendra Singh Dhoni fuelled tensions for Mumbai Indians with his sensational batting but as the ethics of Cricket say that ‘Catches Win Matches’, worked here for MI. Pollard’s outstanding catch of Dhoni helped MI to beat CSK by 9 runs in the Indian Premier League played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium here.

Dhoni’s skipper knock of 51 runs off just 26 balls left Mumbai Indians worried.

Mumbai Indians were extra ordinary with their bowling attack for CSK’s strong batting line excluding Dhoni as after putting up a low total on the scoreboard, MI managed to restrict CSK at 139 runs in the allotted 20 overs.

Though, at one time, the skipper Dhoni fuelled tensions for Mumbai Indians by hitting few tremendous knocks all across the ground but the captain’s knock went in vein as no other batsmen can build up a partnership with him.

Earlier, Mumbai Indians recovered to make 148 for six against CSK after Kieron Pollard hammered 57 runs off 38 balls while Dinesh Karthik made 37.

Here’s the brief scorecard of CSK batting performance:

MEK Hussey: 20 runs
M Vijay: 5 runs
SK Raina: 10 runs
DJ Bravo: 10 runs
S Badrinath: 16 runs
MS Dhoni: 51 runs
RA Jadeja: 16 runs
R Ashwin: 2 runs
B Laughlin: 0 run
AS Rajpoot: 2 runs
