Mumbai: Another big match at the Indian Premier League sixth edition is all set to be played at Wankhede Stadium here on Monday. The match will be played between home team Mumbai Indians (MI) and Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) from 8:00 pm onwards. MI is standing at 4 position in the points table while KXIP is holding the 6th spot.
MI would be feeling pity much confident as they won their last match comprehensively by 58 runs against one of the toughest contenders for the IPL 6 trophy Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). They outplayed RCB in every field of the game. On the other hand, KXIP will enter the ground to earn some momentum in the tournament as they had lost their last battle against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 6 wickets.
Both the teams are being captained by Australian players. KXIP has been led by Adam Gilchrist while MI has been captained by Ricky Ponting, however, Rohit Sharma has been captaining the side following Ponting's bad show with the bat. Gilchrist is also suffering from bad form in the tournament but looking at his last match's innings, a lot more can be expected from the explosive batsman.
Mumbai has got more strengthened after inclusion of Dwayne Smith in the squad. They are performing nicely in the tournament with Sachin Tendulkar, Rohit Sharma, Dinesh Karthik, Kieron Pollard and Ambati Rayudu. All of them are going through a good time with the bat. While their bowling have much versatility as Lasith Malinga is capable of restricting any batting order from getting a big score. Mitchell Johnson, Harbhajan Singh and Kieron Pollard also prove to be dangerous at some occasions.
When we look at KXIP side, we come to the result that they are suffering from inconsistent show with the bat. However, David Miller has boosted their confidence and played some dramatic innings. While Mandeep Singh, Manan Vohra and David Hussey have been performing with the bat for them in the series. They also have a good bowling attack with Praveen Kumar leading the pace attack with Azhar Mahmood. Bhargav Bhatia, Piyush Chawala and Harmeet Singh have also bowled many good spells in the tournament.
