Mumbai: Mumbai Indians (MI) have got yet another chance of going right on top of the Indian Premier League (IPL) sixth edition points table as they will be seen colliding with the mighty Rajasthan Royals (RR) at their home turf here at Wankhede Stadium on Wednesday from 8:00 pm. Both the teams won their last matches in quite similar manner where one of their most explosive batsmen played a dynamic innings to save them from facing a loss. This match is being looked as one of biggest matches of the tournament.
Both the teams have won equal number of matches and having equal points. But Mumbai Indians are at the second position as their Net Run Rate (NRR) is a little higher than Rajasthan Royals. However, both the teams look equally balanced with so many in form players. Here we are elaborating the comparison between the squads:
Royals' skipper Rahul Dravid has proved yet another time that he is one of the greatest players of Cricketing history. Usually he was looked as a Test player, but by playing and leading his team in IPL with a lot of expertness, he has shown that a good player fits everywhere. He has played some dynamic innings and has been leading RR from the front with Ajinkya Rahane. Sanju Samson and Shane Watson are the backbone of their batting lineup. They have been consistently playing quick and big knocks throughout the season. Brad Hodge and Stuart Binny have also proved their worth whenever they have got a chance.
RR bowlers have also learnt that how to prevent the batsmen from playing big shots. Most of them always go economical. James Faulkner, Siddharth Trivedi and Kevon Cooper are hardly being hit for too many runs. Bowling in the right areas is their main motto while bowling and they also get rewarded for the efforts with wickets at regular intervals. Shane Watson has regained his form with the ball too and proving to be very dangerous for the opponents.
When we have a look at Mumbai Indians' squad, they appear to be the strongest team of the season. Master Blaster Sachin Tendulkar opens the innings with Dwayne Smith and both of them have come back into the form. Dinesh Karthik and skipper Rohit Sharma also stand among the highest run getters of the season. However, Karthik have failed to fire since last few matches. But Rohit Sharma have been looking in full flow. Caribbean giant Kieron Pollard also showed the glimpse of superb form in their last match against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). Where he slammed 66 runs off just 27 balls hitting 2 fours and 8 huge sixes. It is quite sure that if he gets a click once again, he is going to destruct any bowling lineup.
Mumbai Indians also own a very threatening bowling attack with a bunch of International bowlers like Lasith Malinga, Mitchell Johnson, Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha. All of them hold a superb record in every format of the game. Malinga is known for his unplayable yorker deliveries which have awarded him many wickets. Johnson has also bowled nicely throughout the season and bagged many wickets. Harbhajan and Ojha have been restricting the scoring rate in the middle overs. Pollard and Dhawal Kulkarni also prove to be destructive with their mixing deliveries.
However, after comparing both the teams, nothing can be predicted about the match. But one thing is sure that IPL 6 is going to witness one of the biggest matches of the season where two gigantic teams will lock their horns for the victory.
Here are the expected teams:
Dwayne Smith, Sachin Tendulkar, Dinesh Karthik (Wicket-Keeper), Rohit Sharma (Captain), Amabti Rayudu, Kieron Pollard, Harbhajan Singh, Mitchell Johnson, Dhawal Kulkarni, Lasith Malinga, Pragyan Ojha.
Rahul Dravid (Skipper), Ajinkya Rahane, James Faulkner, Sanju Samson, Shane Watson, Stuart Binny, Brad Hodge, Dishant Yagnik (Keeper), Siddharth Trivedi, Kevon Cooper, V Malik.
