Pune: Suresh Raina and MS Dhoni led struggling Chennai Super Kings (CSK) to a considerable total off 164 runs in their 10th Indian Premier League (IPL) sixth edition match against Pune Warriors India (PWI) here at Subrata Roy Sahara Stadium on Tuesday. Raina's 63 runs came at the time when CSK was in deep trouble at 28 for 2.
Subramaniam Badrinath also played a helping innings with Raina and scored 34 runs off 31 balls. But it was skipper Mahendra Singh Dhoni who created the difference by playing some big shots during slog overs. Raina scored 63 runs off 50 balls hitting 5 fours and 1 six. While Dhoni played dynamically and slammed 45 runs off just 16 balls. He slammed 4 fours and 3 sixes.
Rahul Sharma, who opened the bowling for PWI, bowled superb spell as he bagged 1 wicket giving 27 runs in his 4 overs. Kane Richardson went a little expensive but bowled a superb last over where he conceded only 7 runs. He also claimed 1 wicket. Abhishek Nayar spend 23 runs in his 3 overs. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who gave only 12 runs off his first 3 overs, conceded 12 runs off his last. While Ashok Dinda, who had also troubled the batsmen in his first two overs, went for 41 runs in his four over spell.
PWI need 165 runs to win off 20 overs.
