Kolkata: As Sachin Tendulkar failed to play a remarkable innings on occasion of his 40th birthday, Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) got an early breakthrough against Mumbai Indians (MI) at Eden Garden Stadium here on Wednesday. Sachin scored 2 runs before getting bowled by Sunil Narine on a superb delivery. However, Dwayne Smith didn't let KKR bowlers to dominate and kept scoring quick runs.
After Sachin, Dinesh Karthik also failed to carry on his form and went after scoring 7 runs off 6 balls. Smith completed his half-century in just 34 balls. Skipper Rohit Sharma came on to crease and started rotating the strike. Smith has scored 61 runs off 41 balls hitting 3 fours and 5 sixes.
Sunil Narine bowled exceptional first over and only conceded 2 runs off it. Senanayake went expensive in his first 2 overs but claimed the much important wicket of inform batsman Dinesh Karthik. Iqbal Abdulla also conceded 35 runs off his 4 overs. Balaji bowled 2 economic overs.
At the end of first 10 overs, MI is looking good with Rohit Sharma (5) and Dwayne Smith (61) at the crease. They need another 81 runs off 60 balls with 8 wickets in hand.
