New Delhi: Today in the first qualifier match of Indian Premier League (IPL) sixth edition, two big teams Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) will battle to reserve their seat in the final of India's biggest domestic cricketing event. Finally, the tournament has touched the peak of excitement with just four teams remaining in the clamber. The match will be played at Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium here on Tuesday. The clash between the two giants of the tournament was a much awaited one for all.
However, Super Kings were beaten badly by Mumbai in both their league matches and would be looking forward to avenge their losses at a much sensitive stage of the tournament. The Cricket Pandits are expecting that the match will also mark the clash of the two most dominating captains, Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Rohit Sharma, of IPL 6.
Both the teams faced loss in their last match of the league stage. Mumbai had won 4 consecutive matches before the loss but CSK was not consistent neither with wins nor with losses. They have won equal number of matches (11 out of 16) to claim the 1st and 2nd slot in the points table. However, CSK has been ranked above MI as they have a better Net Run Rate (NNR).
Both the teams are holding a very strong batting and bowling line up. Starting with Chennai Super Kings, Michael Hussey is leading their top order with his dangerous bat. While his partner Murli Vijay has also exploded in some innings. Suresh Raina is the next batsman to come on the crease. He has batted like a king in last few matches. He was struggling from bad form in the earlier matches, but he came back strongly and played some extraordinary innings. Skipper MS Dhoni is also one of the most consistent batsmen of the game. Dwayne Bravo, Subramaniam Badrinath and Ravindra Jadeja are the other batsmen who can strike at the crucial times.
On the other hand, Mumbai Indians are also having the God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar opening the innings for them. However, he has been running out of form in the tournament, but his presence is hazardous enough for the opponents. He comes on the bat with aggressive Caribbean batsman Dwayne Smith. Dinesh Karthik and captain Rohit Sharma, who are standing amongst the top ten leading run-scorer of IPL 6, are the next two batsmen to join the crease. Kieron Pollard's form was a matter of concern for them in the earlier matches but he also has come back in dynamic form and is looking very dangerous. Ambati Rayudu is also a good batsman in the middle order.
Chris Morris, Jason Holder and Dwayne Bravo are leading CSK's pace attack in the tournament. They have been tough enough for the opponents in almost every match. While Ravichandran Ashwin and Mohit Sharma hold the key of their spin attack. However, Mumbai Indians also hold a solid bowling attack with Lasith Malinga and Mitchell Johnson leading their seam attack. While Harbhajan Singh and Pragyan Ojha are the spinner in their team. These four bowlers have been playing International Cricket since a very long time now.
As it is the first qualifier match of IPL 6, the teams can have some major changes. But here we are producing the expected names of both the squads:
