Chennai: It has been about 52 years for actor Kamal Haasan in the film industry, which is almost equal to his age. The talented, dedicated, outstanding, modest actor/director/screenwriter turns 58 today.

As an actor, Haasan has been equally influential in Bollywood and Southern films. With an year added to his age, he is again set for his appearance on silver screen with spy thriller Vishwaroop (Hindi) and Vishwaroopam (Tamil) next year. His fans are surely awaiting for yet another outstanding performance from him.

Kamal began his acting career at the age of six in Kaluthur Kannamma and bagged National Award for the Best Child Artist in 1960. Interestingly, he is the only actor who has won three National Awards in best actor category.

The veteran has appeared in Hindi films like Ek Duje Ke Liye, Sadma, Ek Nai Paheli, Chachi 420, Hey Ram and many more. He has also made his presence noticeable in Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada cinema.

Apart from films, he has been active in social welfare activities. Last year, Haasan pledged to donate his organs to medical students for research.
