Maharashtra: Pilgrimage to Shirdi turns tragic, 30 dead, 14 injured

Mumbai: Saturday turned tragic for the family members of 30 people, who were killed in a bus accident which was carrying pilgrims to Shirdi. The private bus fell off a river bridge, injuring another 14, on the outskirts of Osmanabad town that is around 450 km from Mumbai.

The ill-fated bus, owned by Kaveshwari Travels, was on a journey from Hyderabad to the famous pilgrim centre of Shirdi in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra when the tragedy occurred around 2:30 am, Osmanabad Police informed.

A majority of the injured are in critical condition and the casualty figure is expected to go up.

The injured have been rushed to hospitals in Osmanabad, Latur, Solapur and other neighbouring towns, and efforts are on to identify the dead.
