Mumbai: German automobile major, Mercedes Benz has launched the Mercedes B Class in India. It has been launched in two avatars - the B180 (priced at Rs 21.49 L) and the B180 Sport (priced at Rs 24.87 L). The prices are ex-showroom Mumbai and the bookings have already taken a toll.

This model will be a CBU (Completely Built Unit) and hence will be imported directly from manufacturing plants at Germany and Hungary. Mercedes India expects to import completely knocked down kits and assemble the car in Pune starting next year.

The car is only available in a petrol variant now. A diesel variant will be in by the third quarter next year, after modifying it to meet local emission norms. So far, the company has managed over 250 bookings, the deliveries of which will be finished by late October. With the launch, the company hopes to expand its market share in India.
