Hitting the gold, the 37-year-old housewife, Surmeet Kaur Sawhney has become the second participant to win Rs. 5 crore on the latest season of the popular game show 'Kaun Banega Crorepati'. Surmeet Kaur hails from Mumbai.
The game show kicked off in 2000, an offshoot of UK's 'Who Wants to be a Millionaire' is among the most watched game shows on TV.
It’s not only the participants who have reaped benefits from the mega show but the host megastar Amitabh Bachchan has also made good money with the whopping amount as fee.
Amitabh Bachchan had decided to host the show when he himself was going through troubled times after his ABCL fiasco which made him responsible to pay hundred crores of rupees in debt.
After this time, once again there was no looking back for Amitabh Bachchan and he soon made a major comeback with series of blockbusters and thereafter ushered into era where script was written specially for him, in line with his advancing age.
Bihar's Sushil Kumar, made headlines when he became the first contestant to win Rs.5 crore. Before his big win on KBC, he used to work as a computer operator and tutor, earning a meagre Rs.6,000 per month.
