Nigeria Sectarian Violence: Death toll reaches 101

Abuja: Clashes between rebellions and soldiers over the past three days in Damaturu and Kaduna has led to the death of over 101 people. The clashes took place at these places after suicide bombers attacked the local churches on Sunday.

A suspected bombing from Islamic fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram was retaliated by the Christians. The scenario turned tragic when the situation of clashes emerged leaving different groups attacking one another. Army personnel were soon deployed to handle the situation but it only saw gun battles and more bombing.

Six security personnel and 34 other were killed on Thursday in Damaturu. The other 34 among dead were the members of Boko Haram, informed a state police spokesperson. However, the Sani Abatcha Hospital at Damaturu claimed that corpses of eight policemen and three soldiers were brought in.

City dweller are facing shortage of food and water since they have to choose between life and death as curfew has been induced in the area following the same until further notice.
