The star daughter receives 'Bhatia' from her father's original name Rajiv Hari Om Bhatia, while middle name 'Khanna' is included as a tribute to late superstar, Rajesh Khanna.
A source close to Akshay revealed, "Both Akshay and Twinkle thought of the name together. The idea was to come up with a unique, yet meaningful, name. Essentially, it's a Sanskrit word, which means 'having deep roots'. The duo had zeroed in on a couple of other names but since they were equally excited about Nitara, they agreed upon it almost instantly."
"After Kaka's demise, Akshay was clear that he wanted his daughter to have Khanna as her second name followed by his original family name. It's his way of paying respect to Kaka, whom he was always very fond of," added the source.
The star couple, who already have a ten year old son, Arav is now really excited to have Nitara in their family. When the baby girl was born, Akki tweeted, "There is no greater feeling in life than holding ur Baby for the first time. I wish I could express more about how HAPPY I am right now, but I'm at a loss of words...I must Thank You all for ur..."
Another source present at the occasion said, "When she was born, his film was going to release amidst a lot of buzz. So, he considers Nitara as his big lucky charm. Aarav is as excited as his dad about his baby sister."
When asked whether the couple will make an official announcement about the baby's name, the source said, "Akshay will make it public soon because he doesn't want any drama surrounding his daughter since it's a very special time for him and his family. Right now, he is spending some quality time with them."
Twinkle delivered the baby girl at Breach Candy Hospital in South Bombay.
