NPP Chief Bhim Singh demands dissolution of J&K coalition govt.

New Delhi: National Panthers Party (NPP) Chairman and Member of NIC Prof. Bhim Singh criticized the coalition government in Jammu & Kashmir for suppressing the democratic urges and rights of the state people by locking up the opposition leaders, using draconian PSA against political workers and showering bullets on the peacefully protesting children.

The NPP Chief condemned Omar Abdullah Govt. for detaining Mirwaz Maulvi Umar Farooq who was to pay tributes to his late Father Maulana Mohd. Farooq on his death anniversary today. Mirwaz Maulana Mohd. Farooq was brutally assassinated on 21st May, 1990 at his residence by the terrorists where as late Khawaja Abdul Gani Lone, Chairman of People Conference was assassinated the same day in 2002. The friends, supporters and well-wishers of these two distinguished Kashmiri leaders had planned to organize this day to pay them tributes. The Govt. action in putting the Kashmiri leaders including Maulvi Umar Farooq, Shri Ali Shah Gelani under house arrest and imposing police curfew throughout the Valley amounted to a great assault on democracy and rule of law showing that the present Omar Govt. standing on the crutches of the Congress has lost the confidence of the people and therefore it has no right to govern J&K.

Prof. Bhim Singh declared to set-up a memorial statue of late Thakur Baldev Singh in his village Sanoora which now falls in District Samba. Prof. Bhim Singh described Thakur Baldev Singh as a pride of the Dogras who stood for the people and worked for the people all his life. The prominent Panthers Party leaders who participated in the historic rally in Sanoora included M/s. Balwant Singh Mankotia, MLA (President JKNPP), Yashpaul Kundal, MLA (General Secretary-JKNPP), Ms. Anita Thakur & H.C. Jalmeria, Adv. ((General Secretaries), Bansi Lal Sharma, Adv. (Political Advisor), Shiv Charan Singh (President Samba), Jagdev Singh (Coordination Secretary) and others.
Prof. Bhim Singh appointed Shri Jiya Lal Verma as General Secretary (Organization), Jammu Pradesh.

Earlier, Prof. Bhim Singh also addressed District (Kathua) Council meetings of JKNPP, Young Panthers and NPSU in Kathua yesterday. Prof. Bhim Singh also addressed a huge gathering of Kashmiri Pundit Migrants at Jagti, late in the evening demanding restoration of regular water and electricity supply to the migrants in their camp.
