NRHM Scam: Pradeep Shukla suspended

Lucknow: Pradeep Shukla, the former Principal Health Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, whom CBI detained at the Lucknow airport while he was boarding a flight to national capital on last Thursday has been suspended. He is accused to be involved and has allegedly played a pivotal role in National Rural Health Mission (NRHM) scam. Currently, he is on CBI remand.

When the NRHM scandal happened, he was the Principal Secretary in the Department of Health and Family Welfare. Then he was removed from the office. At the time of arrest, he was the member at Board of Revenue. Pradeep was suspended on May 13, 2012.

Earlier, Babu Singh Kushwaha (Ex Family Welfare Minister and another accused) had put direct allegations on him saying that he and other senior officials were involved in fictitious payment in the scam and that they were the signatory authority for all the payments. Shukla has been named in four out of 12 FIRs filed by the CBI in the scam.

Former CMO, Dr AK Shukla too was arrested two days earlier by the CBI for his involvement in NRHM Scam and planning of murder of two CMOs of Family Welfare Department.
