New Delhi: Anti-corruption crusade spearhead and now the Aam Aadmi Party convenor Arvind Kejriwal has said that Bhartiya Janata Party and Congress unduly favoured a company that had little experience in oil and gas exploration.
Kejriwal has come up with the fact when just 9 days are left in the Gujarat Assembly polls.
The Gujarat State Petroleum Corporation (GSPC) caused a colossal loss to the exchequer by relinquishing over the stake to Geo Global and another firm namely Jubilant Enpro Pvt Ltd, Kejriwal noted.
Kejriwal asked putting up his retrospective manner and said, “In August 2002, two companies bid with government for the KG Basin and gas well worth Rs 20,000 crore was given to two companies for free. What was the selection process for these two companies?”
The former administrative officer also pointed that Geo Global and Jubilant did not participate in the bidding process, yet they have been given the oil wells.
“Jean Paul Roy is the owner of Geo Global. We demand an investigation into his role. This scam is bigger than the 2G scam,” he surprised all by saying.
He also hit the Congress-led UPA government for allotting 10 per cent gas wells to Geo Global. The Bikaner gas wells were also given to GeoGlobal.
Speaking more over the intense issue, Kejriwal said that Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi wrote to the Centre in 2010, calling for immediate annulment of the contract signed with Geo Global.
He further rued, “The letter is lying with the Centre for the last two years. Why didn’t the Congress raise the issue for the last nine years?”
