Qasim supports Shehzad’s ouster from Pakistan side

Lahore: Chief selector Iqbal Qasim taking a firm stand has supported ouster of opener Ahmad Shehzad’s from Pakistan side for T20 World Cup and Twenty 20 Internationals against Australia.

He said that selectors selected highly experienced player Imran Nazir in his place. Imran is enjoying a fine form and is also a specialist T-20 player, he stated.

He went on to state, “We are banking on experience to do well against Australia and in the T20 World Cup that is why we have also recalled Kamran (Akmal) and Abdul Razzaq and stuck with Yasir Arafat."

Shehzad’s ouster after his inclusion to the Pakistan side had surprised Pakistani fans. Some opined that he may have been ousted on disciplinary ground. He was also charged for slow batting in Sri Lanka series and for creating disciplinary problems.

It is to be noted that Shehzad had faced number of disciplinary issues. He was included in squad after his good performance in domestic and Bangladesh Premier league.

Meanwhile, Shehzad has denied all reports and maintained that his behavior was good in Sri Lanka and is eager to revive his career. He said, “You can ask the Board or team manager.” Shehzad had played 19 ODIs and eight T20 Internationals.
