Since then, she has not looked back and kicked off her journey from where she ended after the grand extravaganza. Saina won her maiden Denmark Open title on preceding Sunday.
Saina has toppled China's Wang Xin to get to the number three spot. On the other hand, Saina can add to her ranking further if she succeeds to make it to the semi-final of the ongoing French Open. Whereas, Saina is just two steps away from being the World number one if she sees off yet another Chinese domination in Yihan Wang who holds the top spot.
This is the second time Saina has attained one of top 3 positions in the World. In December 2010, Saina reached her career best ranking of number 2.
Born on March 17, 1990, Saina has led the country's flag with pride and honour at the international platform. She has many titles to her name from being the Junior World Champion to Indonesian Super Series, Singapore Super Series, Hong Kong super Series and the London Olympics Bronze Medal.
Her coach and former All England Open championship winner in 2001, Pulela Gopichand is also pretty happy with Saina's success in the recent past.
It should be known here that Saina is being trained at the Gopichand Badminton Academy in Hyderabad where other Indian star shuttlers are also trained including Parupalli Kashyap and Ajay Jayaram.
