Mumbai: Hollywood director Ang Lee's 3D film Life Of Pi is loved by audience, critics applauded it, the film made huge box office collections and now Bollywood star Salman Khan has given it a thumbs up.

The day before, Khan along with his family and Dabangg co-star Sonakshi Sinha went for a special screening arranged by Fox Star Studios at a suburban theatre in Mumbai.

As per sources, Salman was impressed with the film and found it spectacular.

The film earned INR 19.5 crore in the country in its opening weekend. The movie, which released on Friday, in 2D and 3D format, grossed INR 5 crore on the opening day and went on to earn INR 19.5 crore over the weekend.

Life Of Pi, based on Yann Martel's Prize-winning novel of the same name, features debutant Suraj Sharma, Tabu and Irrfan Khan in pivotal roles. It narrates the tale of a boy who is adrift at sea in a lifeboat with a Bengal tiger after his family is drowned in a shipwreck.

The film opened in the country in four languages, English, Hindi, Tamil and Telugu.

The movie captures the hillside town of Munnar along with the elegance of Puducherry. Life Of Pi is said to have received the second highest opening of all time for Fox Star Studios after Avatar.
