SP, BSP backs Pranab Mukherjee

New Delhi: Samajwadi Party leader Ram Gopal Yadav Friday announced his party's support to UPA presidential candidate Pranab Mukherjee.

"SP will support him," Yadav said. "We will pray for his victory."

SP's statement came just after Mamata Banerjee's claim in which she said SP chief Mulayam Singh Yadav is on her side to support APJ Abdul Kalam. Mamata also sent her advance greetings to Kalam.

The nominations for president post has emerged a topic of debate in the country. Each individual suggests a different name for the post. An instance to it is the difference of opinion between Mulayam Singh and his party members. On one side where Mamata says that SP chief is backing Kalam for presidential post, his party members stands in support of Pranab Mukherjee.

Earlier, Bahujan Samajwadi Party (BSP) leader Mayawati Friday announced her party's support to UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee in the presidential elections.
