Sensex negative in initial trade, down 53.67 pts

Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark index for the Indian equities markets on Wednesday was trading on a weak note in the morning session.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE which opened at 17,553.97 points was trading down at 17,564.68 by 53.67 points or 0.30 percent at 9:30 am.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading at 5,315.25 points, down by 30.10 points or 0.56 percent.

The BSE midcap index was trading at 0.38 percent down while the BSE smallcap index dipped by 0.20 percent.
