Sensex plummets in morning trade

Mumbai: The Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) benchmark index for the Indian equities markets on Tuesday was trading down in the morning session.

The 30-scrip sensitive index (Sensex) of the BSE which opened at 19,277.58 points was trading at 19,300.31 points, down by 5.01 points or 0.03 percent from previous close at 9:44 am.

The 50-scrip S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) was trading at 5,866.80 points, down by 4.15 points or 0.07 percent.

The BSE midcap index was trading at 0.55 percent up while the BSE smallcap index was up by 0.54 percent.
