Pune: State Eligibility Test (SET) for the post of lecturers in Pune is scheduled for February 17, 2013. The last set of exam was conducted last year in November and the next installment was expected within six months, however University of Pune (UoP) could not conduct the test for several reasons and now it is set for next year.
The university conducts exams in the state of Maharashtra and Goa and about 40,000 candidates enroll themselves every year. University Grants Commission (UGC) renews the approval granted to UoP in after every three years. This year, the university has asked for a renewal in February, but it remained pending since then.
Earlier, UGC had scheduled December 23 for National Eligibility Test (NET). Students were concerned with the little gap between the two exams. The SET exams are normally held in November, but UGC’s delayed approval postponed it to February 2013.
The test will have three papers consisting objective type questions. Paper I and II consists of 100 marks each while paper III carries 150 marks. The exam will be conducted in two sessions. Interested candidates can apply online from December 11 to December 31, while a hard copy submission is acceptable till January 8. Students can obtain their admit cards ten days before the exam.
