Islamabad: Ashamed of her brother's deed, Rehana Haleem, sister to Malala Yousufzai's alleged shooter apologized to the teenage victim.

She said that her brother Attahullah Khan has brought shame to their family. In a request for forgiveness, Haleem said, "Please convey a message to Malala that I apologise for what my brother did to her. He has brought shame on our family. We have lost everything after what he did. What he did was intolerable."

"Malala is just like my sister. I'd like to express my concern for Malala on behalf of my whole family. I hope she recovers soon and returns to a happy and normal life as soon as possible," said Haleem.

She further said, "I hope Malala doesn't consider me or my family as enemies. I don't consider Attahullah my brother anymore."

Reportedly, the police officials are in search of convict and two other men for attacking Malala on October 9. As of now, the 14 year old activist is being treated at a British hospital. She has been fighting against Taliban for girls' education rights in Swat Valley.

The proscribed group Tehrik-e-Taliban claimed the attack and has said that Malala will be targeted again.

Haleem said that her brother Khan's behavior proves his offence, if he was not guilty; he would have definitely turned up for family's rescue. She said, "If he was innocent, he would have come back and claimed he was innocent and come to the aid of his mother and our family. His behaviour is that of a guilty man. How could he abandon us?"

Police claims that last month, they arrested six men in alleged shooting. Absconded Khan, 23 year old young man is pursuing master's degree in chemistry.
