London: People in Britain facing a tough time as heavy snow fall disrupts life in UK. 30% percent of flights that were scheduled to take off on Sunday were cancelled by London's Heathrow Airport.
World’s busiest airport officials asked passengers to get details about their flights before arriving at the airport. Up to 10 cm of snow were expected to fall in some areas, while icy conditions prompted warnings from the weather office.
Heathrow's chief operating officer Normand Boivin reportedly said, "We deeply regret any disruption caused to passengers by the cold weather."
He vowed to return the airport conditions to normal as soon as possible.
Not only the aerial traffic but the ground traffic was also disrupted since last evening as snow hit southern Scotland and parts of Wales before moving south-east through England.
The British Airports Authority reportedly warned passengers that one-third of today's approximate 1,200 flights would be cancelled. Since most flights to India leave at night, no cancellations about those were announced so far.
