Rule books say that construction of a liquor shop, bars near schools, hospitals and temples are prohibited.
A liquor shop opposite a hospital is a shame for its owner and also for authorities who turned their backs while it was being constructed. The Mughal bar is situated in Prem Plaza in Munshipuliya area. We are confronting you with hoard of things which clearly defines that authorities have paid no heeds while the bar was under construction.
(i)The Mughal bar is just 200 meters away from Munshipuliya Police Chowki- Including the chauki incharge, munshipuliya police booth has around 6 to 7 police personals who on a routine basis pass away from in front of the bar. We tend to raise fingers against them as how come they have allowed or have not complaint when the bar was under its construction process.
(ii)Second is the illegal construction of the Mughal bar- The footpath area which is meant for common people has been used for the construction of Mughal bar. The construction rules clearly say that no government land can be used for construction by any individual then what were authorities doing while the construction of this bar was under process.
(iii) Prem Plaza also has residential flats! There are families who live just above the bar who now are habitual of gazing intoxicated people. They first denied talking to us but later when we assure them that their identity will be kept under wraps, few came forward to speak and reveal the problems they are facing. A resident said, "The owner of the bar is a close associate of Mahesh Gupta (Principal Secretary Excise Department). We are family people and hence we cannot fight with them. Initially, we complaint about this but no one was there to hear us." A resident also informed that the bar owner gives a handsome sum to Munshipuliya police booth personals and hence they never dare to utter a word against the bar or its owner.
Also, in Lucknow's Chowk area, a liquor shop is situated near Koneshwar Temple. Devotees have to face several problems but there is no one who may take a stringent action to shut their shutters.
This is the complete picture of the working standards of Nagar Nigam (Municipal Corporation) and Aabkari Vibhaag (Excise Department) in the state capital Lucknow.
