UAE upset over immoral reference to Dubai in Heroine

Mumbai: Madhur Bhandarkar's magnum opus Heroine might go for a re-editing because of certain offensive dialogues in it. The film stars Kareena Kapoor in the lead and is said to have miffed people in UAE because of some inappropriate reference to Dubai.

Bhandarkar has always received a good response from its audience in Middle East, but a dialogue in which Kareena alleges media to form speculations has offended people there.

The actress speaks the dialogue while addressing a conference in the film and it goes like, "Heroine ne gaadi li toh business man ne gift kiya... aur God forbid Dubai gayi, toh uska rate card ban jaata hai ". It means that when an actress buys a car, it is always anticipated to be a gift from some rich business man and if by chance she visits Dubai, people misinterpret it to her involvement in paid sex.

This kind of a reference to Dubai was certainly offensive for people in Emirates and the media there has blamed Bhandarkar of ignorance and also mentioned that talking of the city in such an immoral context in not right.

However, the filmmakers have decided to find a suitable solution to the controversy. It is said that the word 'Dubai' will either be muted or it will be substituted with some other alternative.
