However, all the Exit polls had predicted that Samajwadi Party will lead the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections and they are. There have been severe allegations on the accuracy of the exit polls but this time around the critics have been proven wrong.
What proves that the exit polls are close to accurate is the fact that the party is leading in more than 150 seats as was predicted.
With SP leading the 403 seat UP Assembly by 160, it is clear that Mulayam Singh Yadav will cycle his way to the Chief Minister's post. However the last mile will be decided by the ally, whosoever that might be.
Congress, leading in 49 seats, is projected as the likely partner to SP. This too had been predicted in the exit polls.
The exit polls had signaled the end of the reign of Mayawati-led Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) in Uttar Pradesh and the current trend is proof of that. The BJP is leading in 49 seats while Others are ahead in 15.
